Weather on the Way
It’s holiday season, we’re all doing a bit more travelling than normal and if you’re work from home or even hybrid it’s actually exciting to be back in the car and driving.
Equally the holidays fall in winter, and this can be a mixture of anything from rain and wind to a complete traffic chaos, snowing whiteout in the UK with just 3 flakes of snow.
Weather on the Way, allows you to plan ahead check the weather along you route, mapping is supplied by Apple Maps, and weather data is pulled in from NOAA in the USA and local sources for other regions (I suspect Darksky feed), so its going to be pretty reliable information.

The timeline and other views allow you to select departure times, which helps plan your trips to avoid the bad weather ahead.
Apple have recently allowed Weather on the Way on CarPlay, allowing you to keep a track of the weather as you drive along, including live rain radar information.
I couldn’t seem to get voice guidance working but the visual cues on screen when to turn or take the next exit worked fine on a recent trip up to Kendal. On the return leg I opened Apple Maps, allowing that do its thing telling me when to turn off, and left the visuals to Weather on the Way, both synced up perfectly. My 12 Pro Max - didn’t seem to overheat or even get hot running both apps at the same time.
Weather on the Way is available on iPhone and iPad, with previous and saved routes syncing between devices.
